Salon
on Design Leadership
The Design Academy held an Integrative Health Salon to explore the opportunities in which to transform the Retail Drug Store into a model that positively defines the leading edge of the Pharmacy Experience. The salon was attended by alternative health practioners, pharmacists, doctors, pharmacy operations and corporate personnel, a yoga master, and spiritual master.
The salon is a 17th century French idea, a gathering of stimulating and attractive
people of quality under the roof of an inspiring hostess, partly to amuse one
another and partly to refine their taste and increase their knowledge through
conversation and readings, consciously following Horace’s definition of the
aims of poetry, “to please and educate”. Rapid social and technological change
has transformed our world and the role of design in it. We are at a breakpoint,
a time where trans-disciplinary forces are creating new opportunities to shape
what design will be in the future and the role it will play in our lives. The
Design Academy Inc. aspires to do that on a global level by bringing the most
innovative aspects of the design industry together with the creative, scientific,
technological, and intellectual resources of professionals, universities, organizations
and businesses around the world.
Design has consistently been a reflection of society, contributing to the social fabrics of our times. From the intuitive, artistic approach of the 1900’s, we have seen a change to a more fact and knowledge based profession to one that is beginning to identify the design process itself as a future tool to enhance society, solve problems and find solutions of dignity. The past explanation of design was a series of actions that brought results. This has changed to a process that identifies problems and finds solutions of dignity. This transformation is requiring new processes and perspectives to reach the corporate goals of innovation and profit.
Salons have been held on a variety of topics, including design management issues. Contact us for further discussion.
